If this item is supposed to auto mute the detector it doesn’t work. I didn’t receive any instructions with it so I’m shooting in the dark with it – literally – if you press the button too many times it shuts the unit off.

Cobra XRS 9400 11-Band Radar/Laser Detector Equipped with 11 bands for monitoring radar and laser detection, the Cobra XRS 9400 is the ideal solution for anyone who spends much of his or her time on the highway. The device scans the X, K, and Ka Superwide radar bands–the three standard bands used by most radar guns–while also keeping an eye out for VG2 and Spectre 1 appliances, which officers use to locate drivers with radar detectors. Thanks to this latter technology, the XRS 9400 is virtually invisible on the road. The device also offers a 360-degree LaserEye function, which detects LTI 20-20, Ultra Lyte, ProLaser, and ProLaser III signals coming from any direction. And to top it off, the XRS 9400 comes with both Safety Alert, which scans for emergency vehicles and road hazards so drivers can avoid traffic snarls, and Strobe Alert, which looks for ambulances and fire trucks using traffic-light-controlling strobes. The Safety and Strobe Alert functions let drivers avoid accident scenes and other perilous situations, so the only traffic they face is during rush hour.

Many radar detectors sound false alarms when traveling through dense urban areas, which is why the XRS 9400 also includes both city and highway modes. The city mode is less sensitive to outside interference, reducing the likelihood of a false reading. Additional features include an easy-to-read LED display with simple band identification; IntelliMute relative speed sensing; VoiceAlert, which provides the user with specific band voice annunciation; a digital signal strength meter that measures the proximity of a radar or laser gun; instant-on detection for radar guns with “pulse” signals; and a “system ready” prompt that notifies the user when the radar detector has completed its self-test. The XRS 9400, which comes with a windshield mounting bracket and power cord, is protected by a one-year warranty against defects.

The radar detector seems to work fine so far, but the voice is almost unintelligible, and is very annoying. I’m not sure if all of this model are like this of if I just got a bad one. It was pretty cheap though, so I guess it’s OK.
Customer Review: FREE PRODUCT??
I feel like I have already paid for this product from all the speeding tickets I could have received. This radar detector gives you enough time to slow down. If the cop car does not have on its radar, your radar will not go off. I have met a cop going 10 mph over limit, but he did not stop me. The only downfall to these lasers are they are very sensitive, so make sure you know what is a warning and what is not. You will be able to tell after using radar a couple of weeks. Also, if you are around department stores w/ motion sensor doors, I would recommend to turn radar off because it will absolutely drive you insane with its loud beats. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, and I actually bought this for my best friend because I had one and loved it.
