My old and reliable Cobra Radar Detector went out and I decided to get this one. I don’t know if Cobra made the newer models less sensitive or what. This model has no range and gives too many false alerts. Am sending it back to get a Beltronics Detector.

I have found there are lots of speed traps where I live. I generally observe the speed limits but the hills sometimes cause speed to creep up. This unit helps keep me honest and avoid getting tickets. It gives ample advance warning and enough time to check and correct any speed errors.

Very robust construction, “dark mode” feature prevents display from becoming a beacon to other drivers who want to tailgate you thinking you will save them from a ticket (Not to mention attracting unwanted law-enforcement attention for the same reason).

It’s not cheap but compared to the cheap units, this thing far outreaches them and provides useful features instead of deceptive fluff. Go with the best. You will not regret it!

Ive had this detector for a year now. It is a lifesaver. Again last night, it saved me from a California Highway Robber sitting in a roadside shadow at night with all his lights off (dangerous!) but his Ka radar on, hunting those of us coming home from honest jobs.

I was going 10 over traffic, which prolly means 20 over the govt signage. Perfectly safe, do it twice a day every day. Granted you dont get much warning with Ka guns having such a tight spread, but Ive trained myself to grab the brakes and start brushing off speed reflexively when I hear my little detector warn me of danger.

It was just enough time, and I cruised right past the thief. He’ll have to rob someone else.

Customer Review: Good value, good detector
I bought this detector for use on my motorcycle. It performs well and has ample warning time, at least in Ka and X bands. I do get the occasional false reading but overall this is a good valued product. However, regardless of what the packaging says this detector DOES power off on its own, sporadically. Not too much of an annoyance but an annoyance none-the-less. The batteries that it comes with don’t hold a charge very well either.
It is also important to note that I live in a very rural area, devoid of traffic lights, police, and any other variable that may impede rapid progress. In other words I don’t live in or near any cities or high traffic areas and use it only as a back-up for common sense.

Customer Review: Whistlers Best Kept Secret
Not a tech writer but here goes….
Received the Pro 68 ( yes…not the 78) and have had a few days of driving with it. I can only compare it to my Whistler Pro78/690 and 330.
Very nice looking unit. Display is bright and easy to read.
Programming includes the ability to turn on/off:
X Band
K Band
Ka Band
POP
SWS
VG2
and turn on and off an additional FILTER
of course the 3 City Bands with City2 being X turned off.
2 blue flashing periscope lights are also configurable to your own taste.
No Voice available.

Operationally it is very good. Picks up Ka as good as the Pro78 IMHO and real world experience. K band also. Picked up a C/O Ka from well over a mile and over two gently rolling hills. Ka again from a side street running 90degrees out from me….LEO was about 1000 yards down the side street and I was approximately 200 yards from the intersection when it went off….I saw him as I rolled up to the intersection. 1 K band from well over 1 1/2 miles…it was a radar trailer that tells you your speed…..Quiet as can be so far….in San Antonio it only “bleeped” on a Ka for a second…other than that is it is a very quiet detector. I am impressed. No laser so far.
It is rock solid in the mount and does not bounce around.
So far I have been running:
X OFF
POP OFF
VG2 OFF
SWS OFF
Filter ON
HIGHWAY MODE
It is very easy to read in the bright sunlight. Easy to hear. And has performed as well as my Pro 78 or 690. Michael and the boys at Whistler have done very well for a $85 detector in my book. This is a keeper.
