It is great having a cordless detector. It works as well as my corded one. The batteries lasts about a week while using it daily. The mount is holding it up fine so far. With the batteries inside it is a bit heavy. We’ll see how well the suction cups work over time.
Customer Review: not good with photo radar
I bought the unit specifically for new photo radar installations in Arizona. So far I have tested it against a number of known installations. For the most part it fails to detect the Redflex system until I am right in front of the camera. I do not get a lot of false alarms as mentioned in other reviews. The unit does seem to work as designed against policeman operated radar.

Customer Review: worth every penny
I won’t say much here except this 9500i is fantastic. I was very hesitant in getting the GPS part of the marketing push. I figured bad weather and satellite positioning would reduce the effectiveness of the unit. I wasn’t sold on the “marking” the areas where nuisance “x band” was present in shopping centers and such.

Wow, did Escort prove me wrong. Everything that is advertised works exactly as it is advertised. Sort of rare nowadays.

I used to turn off my Escort 8500×50 because of the constant nuisance false alarms going off in city areas. Let me tell you that forgetting to turn your detector back on will cost you plenty of $$$ (don’t ask me how I know this, please don’t) The step to mark and eliminate each and every single false alarm area is the icing on the cake for me. No more turning the unit off just for some peace and quiet.

From what I remember, Escort did say it was upgradeable via the internet when upgrades were available. I even registered with Escort and being a year later still have not heard or seen anything. I have heard the newer 9500xi is upgradeable and they seem to be promoting that and stopped with the original 9500i option. I’ll have to check further into this.
Customer Review: The Best todate
I have had this new 9500i only a short time; however I have been using the 8500i prior to this. The 9500i has a few more “bells and whistles”; however, not that much different from the 8500i. That aside, this is the best detector I have ever used. I use the dectector on every drive I take and it has dropped by tickets to zero for the past seven years.

Customer Review: Not worth buying, just slow down
Okay, fundamentaly if the possession of a radar/laser supression device makes you feel better, great! However, they make you drive faster (unsafe) and inevitably more dangerous and you place yourself and others at risk. I have never lost a radar or laser ticket in court (yes I’m a cop)and when I mention to the Judge that there was an installed detector device installed in the vehicle, the fine gets enhanced. Basically remember this, when you hear or see the device go off, the officer on the other end has already tracked your violation. So all you are doing is pre-stressing for the ticket that you are about to get, not beating it. Good luck, be safe and the life you save may be your own Cpl. Hal

It’s a nice touch for the escort detector. The only complain is that I can’t leave even the wire visible in the car because it’s a dead giveaway that you have a high priced descort detector in your car for people to steal.

I DON’T KNOW IF IT WORKED OR NOT. I RETURNED IT BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURE OF THE RADAR DETECTOR TOLD ME IF I USED IT THEY WOULD VOID THE FACTORY WARRANTY ON THE DETECTOR.

I RETURNED IT AND HAVE NOT RECEIEVED A REFUND AS OF YET.
